The Royston rider got off to a perfect start by taking pole position in qualifying, setting him up for a great weekend’s racing.

JG Speedfit Kawasaki teammate Leon Haslam missed the weekend’s racing due to injury after a heavy crash in practice, allowing Mossey to move ahead in the standings by taking 33 points.

Mossey took second place in race one after a strongly fought contest with RAF Regular And Reserves Kawasaki rider Jake Dixon, who took the win, the first of his BSB career.

Speaking after race one, Mossey said: “We decided because of the track temperature for race one to run the harder compound tyre.

“It wasn’t the right decision and I really struggled so had to push for a podium and more podium credits.”

Race two saw Mossey start on pole position yet again, however it wouldn’t be with the same success as race one.

Switching to a softer tyre for race two, Mossey was in contention at the front of the race and took the lead on lap eight. There was then a significant moment through the chicane, where he was lucky to stay on the Kawasaki bike.

Mossey settled for fourth, with Dixon taking a second win of the day. The day’s racing resulted in Mossey extending his lead in the championship to 30 points.

Mossey said: “I’ve a 30 point lead in the championship now and Leon is still second, which is great for the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team. We’ve two weeks until Snetterton and I can’t wait to get back out there again.”

Mossey will now have all his attention on the race in Norfolk where he will be hoping to extend his lead at the top.
