A Scott Bridges brace saw Southern League Division One Central leaders Royston Town beat Northwood 2-0 on Tuesday in what was their eighth league win in a row.
Steve Castle’s table-toppers now lead the way by 11 points with a game in hand on nearest rivals Farnborough.
With just 10 games left of the season, Royston remain on course for the title and promotion to the Southern League Premier Division.
On Tuesday skipper Bridges opened the scoring on six minutes at Garden Walk following a corner from Rod Orlando-Young.
He added his second of the night on 79 minutes.
Danny May’s corner was headed towards goal by Stuart Bridges before his brother Scott converted to settle the home nerves.
Those were then tested though as Miles Stephenson pulled one back for the visitors with seven minutes to play.

However, The Crows held on to collect another important three points.
They were also made to work hard on Saturday in a 1-0 home victory over AFC Dunstable.
Prior to that game a minute’s silence was held to remember Crows’ supporter Steve Donoghue who had sadly passed away at the age of 58.
Castle’s men went on to score the only goal of the game in the 82nd minute as Spyros Mentis headed home May’s set-piece.
Towards the end of the encounter Dunstable’s ex-Royston player Nathan Frater was sent-off for lashing out at May.
This Saturday Royston head to Aylesbury looking to maintain their winning run and advantage at the top of the standings.
The Crows play their game in hand over second in the table Farnborough on Tuesday night when they visit third placed Barton Rovers, kick-off 7.45pm.
