ROYSTON Boxing Club’s Billy Barwise continued his development with fifth straight victory last week.

The 15-year-old defeated Wellingborough Boxing Club’s M Myles in the first round after hitting his opponent with a quick combination that proved too much for him to come back from. The Royston boxer looked strong from the first bell and didn’t allow himself to be caught by his opponents jab before catching Myles with a sweet left-hook shortly before the end of the fight.

His coach and father, Carl Barwise, says he is pleased with Billy’s progression but is keen to remind him that his fights will continue to get harder and harder.

Fellow Royston boxer, Steve Perry, followed up his win in Balham a fortnight ago with a unanimous victory over Leicester’s J Wilson.

Wilson had won his two previous fights before coming up against Perry, but the Royston lad worked his jab well and boxed solidly throughout to earn the win.
