ROYSTON BOWLS Club did its bit for the community on Friday evening by kindly donating 1,830 to the Royston Town Community Trust.

It decided to contribute the funds – which had been raised in 2011 – as a return gesture after community money had been used to fund the club’s new green which was laid earlier this year.

A cheque was presented to Royston mayor, Robert Inwood, by club president Peter Fisk at their annual dinner & dance evening held at the British Legion.

Councillor Inwood thanked Mr Fisk for the cheque, and stated that he was amazed at the large amount of money which the bowls club had collected. He continued by saying that Royston was a great town, and he felt sure the money would be a much-valued contribution to the Trust Fund, and put to good use within the town’s community.
