BASSINGBOURN'S best season ever came to an end with a defeat to the champions Letchworth on Sunday.
After a couple of weeks off, Bassingbourn started brightly with plenty of possession and good play from Ben Blower, Callum Waller and Jacob Stekly.
However with their first attack Letchworth got behind the 'bourn defence to score and within minutes had doubled their lead with a neat finish.
'Bourn continued to have more of the ball and Blower and Stekly both forced the keeper into making good saves but just before half time a cross from the Letchworth right evaded Jon Marriage in the 'bourn goal to increase Letchworth's lead.
The second half saw 'bourn again seeing most of the ball and with Harry Vines and Luke Barrett holding back the Letchworth attacks and Callum Waller twice came close following runs down the right.
However Letchworth soon added a fourth as Bassingbourn finally ran out of steam.
