NEW Buntingford Town reserve team manager Tyrone Parry's first game in charge was put on hold after their home game with Lemsford was postponed on Saturday.

It followed a long list of postponed matches that dates back almost three months, with only four games being played since November 10.

But with first team manager Luke Capon having had to take dual responsibility of both the first and reserve teams, Parry's appointment last week came as great delight.

And now the former Buntingford Town player and Royston Town reserve team manger is looking forward to his new tenure with an away trip to Lemsford on Saturday.

Parry told The Crow: "I was disappointed that the game was called off last week, but we can get things started on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to the game and I've been impressed by what I've seen of the team so far.

"We've had a few good training sessions and a couple of chats, and the players have now set a top four finish for the end of the season."

Parry's side currently sit mid-table, with their opponents Lemsford two places below and five points behind.

And with plenty of games in hand, Parry has brought in a few new faces to freshen things up, with the signings of Chris Burke, Craig Parry and Tom Bradley.

Parry said: "I've brought a few players in, but I want to work with the talent already at the club. They have a lot of confidence and that's good to see, because it is going to be a challenge.

"One thing that I will be doing is running the team like I would a first team, because I always like things to be as professional as possible.

"A win on Saturday would certainly be a good start, but it's always tough away from home."

n Meanwhile, first team manager Luke Capon will be relishing his first home game in charge with his side having had seven games on the road.

Last weekend's away trip to Watford-based Evergreen was postponed, meaning Town go into Saturday's game against struggling Codicote fresh and looking to get back into the top three of the Herts Senior County League.

Midfielder Ricky Lawrence will also be looking to carry on his impressive goal-scoring form against a team who have lost their last four matches, having scored in his last two games.
