DAVID Boatman lapped the field last Wednesday with a fine Nett 64 which saw him win the second round of the new Heydon Grange Venerables annual six round stroke play event.

His win also earned him a three shot cut in his handicap.

Other players to feature in this already popular competition were John Searle and Terry Gardiner.

Searle is in good form this spring and is featuring strongly in the weekly ladder competition which is held every Monday morning.

Searle is third behind Graham Jarman and a regular who is often close to the top of the ladder leader boards Derek Buxton.

Heydon's summer series of venerables matches against other local clubs continued last week with a visit to Menzies at Bar Hill.

In splendid scoring conditions the home side took full advantage of local familiarity and ran out easy winners by four and two.

The marvellous lunch served by the home side however compensated Heydon for the morning's disappointment.
