BMX: Rockets beat the weather

THE Royston Rockets had to compete with their rivals and the water-soaked surface of Braintree BMX club's new surface.
Battling the conditions, Rockets were at full strength and started the sixth round of the East Anglia competition in impressive fashion, with Ted Dalleywater finishing second in the under-six year class, just ahead of Archie Yorke.
In the combined seven-eight-year class, Ethan Vernon won the A final, with Aaron Threader finishing third, and Aaron Dalleywater and Oliver Snelling fourth and seventh respectively.
Ethan Lewis finished seventh in the combined nine-10 A final, while in the 11/12 year class James Handleigh took home another first, with Louis Burton not far behind in fourth.
Antony Taylor secured another win for Royston in the 13/14 year class, while Ben Gutteridge finished fifth.
In the 15/16 year male category Wayne Gutteridge was fourth, and in the cruiser 30-39 class Tom Yorke claimed a valuable victory, as did Phil Burton in the 40+ cruiser to complete a successful day for the Royston club.

The Rockets will compete in the fifth round of the National Summer Series on Sunday at the Mid Lancs BMX club.
