LAST Sunday saw the East Anglia BMX Spring Classic race hosted by the Braintree BMX Racing Club and Royston Rockets had members competing across most of the classes.
In the under-six category Zak Blanche-Drammeh took fifth place and in the class for eight-year-old riders Royston packed the podium with Josh Peters winning, Ted Dalleywater second and James King in third.
The nine-year-old class was nearly as good with Ethan Vernon winning and Daniel Blanche taking second and in the 10-year-old class Aaron Dalleywater kept up the clubs trophy haul with another win.
Moving up the age range, James Handleigh was riding up in the13-14 year-olds class and battled home in fifth while Aston Blanche took home the second place trophy.
The Cruiser 13-15 class saw Danny Thedam finish third and in the Cruiser 40 plus class Danny Ancell took fifth just behind Carl Birt in fourth.
The largest class of the day - Masters for 30 and over riders - saw varying fortunes for Royston's members.
Dave Godfrey took fifth in the A final and Adam Richards took a tumble whilst challenging for the lead and had to settle for eighth over the line.
The next event for the Royston riders is the first round of the Summer Series and the first part of a two round challenge between East Anglia and the Midlands region to be held at Derby on March 22.
Earlier in the month two Rockets received awards at the annual British Cycling Awards Dinner. Laurence Mapp was presented with his National Series Elite Class Champions trophy whilst his father Bernie was presented with an award for his work as a volunteer official at National and International events.
The Rockets' summer schedule will be published on www.roystonrockets.co.uk or ring (01763) 260959 for more information on BMX racing.
