IN Senior League Division 3 Great Chishill beat Madingley with a superb innings by Sam Stoop.

With the score on 103 for 7 and chasing a total of 187 to win, Stoop was joined by Paul Hunter, making his only appearance in the Chishill colours this season.

The pair steered Chishill home, with Stoop sending the ball to all parts to finish on 84 not out.

Hunter gave the talented youngster some solid support with 17 not out as Chishill raced to 191.

Earlier Brian Manning had continued his fine form with the ball to take 2 for 44, with Hunter proving his all-round skills with 2 for 48 as Chishill restricted the home side to 186 for 7 off their 45 overs.

GREAT Chishill seconds were up against runaway league leaders Godolphin in Junior League Division 4C on Saturday, and the difference between top and bottom was evident as the visitors coasted to a six-wicket win.

Chishill managed only 119, with youngsters Adam Wright and Tom Guerrero top-scoring.

The Chishill bowlers stuck to their task well, but the visitors were always in control, with Maroof's well-worked 40 taking his side to a bloodless victory despite Wright's fine spell of seam bowling.

MAINTAINING their recent fine form Reed thirds saw off Waltham Cross Rosedale with an impressive seven-wicket victory.

Captain Peter Baker put the hosts into bat, and Reed's young pace attack ripped into the Waltham Cross top order.

Rupert Martin (14-3-54-1), Mitchell Cooper (10-0-52-2) and Louis Gearing (9-2-24-1) had the home side reeling at 40 for 4. However, good batting from Pearce (36) and a hard-hit 68 from captain Peak averted the crisis.

Ian Roberts (8-2-13-1) and Jack Tidey (6-1-19-1) also snared a deserved wicket each, but Waltham Cross reached 176 for 6.

In reply, Peter Baker and Aidan Swain put 44 on the board before Baker departed for 17.

Swain (23) fell soon after, to leave Reed 53 for 2.

However, brothers Ben and Matt Bowles took the score towards three figures, and though Matt was caught in the covers for 18, Ben (55 not out) was joined by Ian Fulk, who hit an unbeaten 51 to see Reed home with six overs to spare.
