Bassingbourn U11s 8 Symonds Green U11s 1

BASSINGBOURN Youth U11s comfortably beat Symonds Green 8-1 on Sunday.

Green arrived late having been sent on a wild goose chase before the game and that may have affected them as Bassingbourn raced to a 3-0 first-half lead. Arthur Baigent sprinted away from the defence to slot home the first and then headed home for number two before Fin Burchett chipped the ball over the ‘keeper to make it 3-0 at the break.

The visitors started the second half more brightly and hit the bar early in the half, but this just left more space for Bassingbourn to attack and they soon added two more with a header from Jonah Steckley and then Josh Haigh reacted first after the ball hit the post to make it five. Green pulled one back but ‘bourn replied with three more, firstly with another from Haigh before George French and Oli Strubel wrapped the game up.
