BASSINGBOURN under-11s remain unbeaten in Division Four after a hard fought 2-2 draw at Buntingford on Sunday.

A Jacob Stekly close range shot put Bassingbourn in front but they were quickly pegged back by a Stripes' equaliser.

After half time Bassingbourn started well but soon fell behind to a long-range shot.

They were not to be defeated, however, and once again pulled level with a cool finish by Ben Blower.

Despite efforts from both sides, the match finished 2-2.

Richard Jonas scored two as Royston Celtic emerged victorious in a well contested under-11 derby against Royston Town Youth.

Celtic started the stronger of the two teams, putting their hosts under pressure for much of the first half, but their attacks were well defended by resilient opponents and it was 0-0 at half time.

Celtic kept up the pressure in the second half, and finally made the breakthrough when Callum Pinner's shot was deflected into the net by an unlucky defender.

Richard Jonas then added two more goals for Celtic, the first a fine strike from the edge of the area, and the second when he raced on to a long pass and lobbed the ball over the oncoming keeper.

Town continued to battle and were rewarded with a late consolation goal by George Bailey, but remain at the foot of Division One.

Melbourn Dynamo Tigers shipped seven goals away to Hormead Hares Black, and have now conceded 29 goals in five games.

That said, the under-11 team were unable to cope with a fierce wind which had a hand in some of the Blacks' goals.

There was some good news for the Tigers with Tom Spreadbury managing to score his first goal for the club and captain Ed Twyman capping off a good performance with a goal.

It was not enough though, and the Tigers went down 7-2.

An exciting run and finish by Mickey Baulk in extra time booked Royston As under-nines' place in the second round of the Herts County Cup.

Letchworth GCE Oranges were the opponents in this tight encounter, which saw Royston lead at half time through a Lewis Anderson goal.

Letchworth, playing at home, scored the only goal of the second half to level the match, and the game went to extra time.

With two minutes to go, Baulk picked the ball up, beat two players, and fired home to win the game for Royston.

Royston B's under-nines were beaten 6-0 at home by Hitchin Yellows in the first round of the Herts County Cup.

Hitchin opened the scoring a minute after kick-off, and could have had more first-half goals if not for a good defensive display by their opponents.

Royston were unable to repeat their strong rearguard display in the second half, and Hitchin put them to the sword, scoring five more goals.
