A TEAM from Barkway Park won the Cambridgeshire County Golf Partnership Pro/Am competition at St Ives GC on Friday. The team, one of three entries from the club, consisted of Alex Walker, Alf Jackson, Mark Turner and Barkway’s golf pro, Jamie Bates. The competition was played as a stableford format with the two best scores counting on each hole.

The Barkway team amassed a creditable 80 points which proved enough to take the fine silver salver awarded to the winners.

Meanwhile, The Ticker Cup was won by Paul Sharp with 39 points, closely followed by Mike Smith with 38. The competition is a mixed event and the leading lady was Elizabeth Ambrose with 33 points. The Ticker Cup is played in aid of The Heart Foundation and �120 was raised for the cause.

Barkway’s seniors, defending their title, won their first round match in the C.A.G.U. Seniors Knock Out at Barkway on Monday, beating Waterbeach GC 3-0.

They will play either Thorpe Wood GC or Cromwell GC in the next round.
