Barkway make it to two finals

BARKWAY Park's men reached the final of the Derek Burridge Greensomes Knock-Out tournament with an 8-2 victory over Elton Furze on Sunday.
BARKWAY Park’s men reached the final of the Derek Burridge Greensomes Knock-Out tournament with an 8-2 victory over Elton Furze on Sunday.
Barkway won three games and halved two which sets up a final showdown against Cambridge Meridian or Menzies on August 8.
Barkways Seniors also reached the final of the CAGU Seniors Knock-Out tournament by beating Hemingsford Abbotts away 2-1. They will play Cambridge Meridian seniors in a two-legged final in August.
In domestic competition, Simon Hughes gained an overall victory in the July Medal with a net score of 71(gross 77), followed by Gary Monks and Trevor Woolacott who both netted 74. Wayne Brister was the Division Two winner with a net score of 71.
On Wednesday, July 14, Barkway Seniors held their Chief Barker’s Day in honour of this year’s senior’s captain, Malcolm McKimmie. This is, traditionally, a stableford competition which was won this year by Martin Devenish with 42 points. Rob Barnes carded the same score but came second on count back.
