Bance lifts junior crown

ROYSTON golfer Oli Bance has added the Junior Championship to his Junior Open and County Boys titles with an excellent round of 72. The 18-year-old three-handicapper played some solid golf and finished his round with a two putt birdie on the 18th hole.

County boys under-16 captain James Sandford finished runner-up with 73, followed by Chris Trimble on 74.
Jennie McGuigan won the Ladies Club Championship, which was played over 36 holes.
She finished 24 shots clear of runner-up Bridget Long, with Kathy Musgrave pipping Tracey Parsons for third spot.
Rita Turner won the Bronze Trophy which was played over eighteen holes.
Steve De Fraine won the President's Cup with rounds of 66 and 65, which saw his handicap trimmed from 12 to 10.
Oli Bance finished second with rounds of 67 and 69, followed by Adrian Shoebridge with 65 and 71.
Elsewhere, 14-year-old James Smith blew the field apart to win the Men's Saturday Medal, with the seven handicapper shooting a par 70 nett 63.
His nine shot margin over Oli Bance, reduced his handicap to five.
The Veterans Tankard was won by Jim Hopkins with nett 67, and he was closely followed by Peter Mitchell with a 68.
Royston also won the Letchworth Salver - the mixed team event that sees three pairs play 36 hole foursomes.
The team of Emma Logan, Adam Woods, Jenny Middlemas and Dickie New, together with Jennie McGuigan and Dan Keogh, tied with Letchworth and Hadley Wood.
Logan and Woods opted to play a sudden death decider, with Logan securing the title with a nine-foot par putt.
