AWARDS have been handed out to the first group of youth members at Steeple Morden Bowls Club.
Dylan Hughes and Jacob Bayliss were each presented with bronze awards by club president Howard Jarman at a recent ceremony only four weeks after the youth section was set up.
The club hopes to increase the number of members in their youth ranks by making youngsters aware that the sport is no longer an "old man's game", and have invited local schools to participate.
Those children who do take part have the chance to gain bronze, silver and gold awards based on the English coaching scheme.
The youth section meets on Wednesdays from 6pm until 8pm, and if anyone would like to visit the scheme they can contact club secretary Dan Sheehan on his email address dansheehan@tiscali.co.uk
