CROWS manager Paul Attfield is confident his team will put in a good performance this weekend away at Kingsbury London Tigers despite being without the services of up to eight players.

John McGrandles, Rhys Lawrence, Matt Standen, Ryan Lockett, Arin Fehmi and Kaan Fehmi will all miss Saturday’s trip to London, but Attfield is confident his squad has enough strength in depth to be able to cope and continue their 100 per cent start to the season.

“I’ve got quite a few missing but I had five missing on Tuesday night (against Stotfold) but we managed to cope so it isn’t really a concern for me,” he told the Royston Crow.

Kingsbury have won one and lost two of their opening three league matches this season, and while Attfield says he doesn’t take much notice of results at this stage of the campaign, he knows his side will have to play well to get a result against a technically good outfit.

“I don’t really look at the results this early on in the season as most clubs are still losing players away on holiday,” he added.

“Kingsbury are a good side technically – as are most sides in London – but the way we’re playing at the moment we are confident of beating any team.”

Royston beat Stotfold 4-2 at Garden Walk on Tuesday night, and Attfield was pleased with the contribution of new striker Kaan Fehmi – brother of full-back Arin – who scored his second goal of the season and says he has high hopes for him this season.

He said: “Kaan has done well. He’s been around the non-league circuit with the likes of Hitchin Town, Arlesey and Ware so he’s got experience of playing at the level above us.

“He gives us more impetus up front as he’s good and strong on the ball. He’s similar to Ryan Lockett in many ways and I’m confident he will score 20-25 goals for us this season.

“As a team we showed good desire and played at a high tempo in the first half (against Stotfold) and we had to dig in a bit in the second by getting plenty of bodies behind the ball.

“Based on what I saw last year, this was a game we might well have lost, so there’s a lot of difference between that and this year’s team as we showed a good response after they scored their second goal.”

Royston could go top of the league should they win and current leaders Berkhamstead slip up at Hertford Town.
