ASPENDEN Standon & Puckeridge moved up to third spot in the Herts & Essex League Division Four after a comprehensive victory over Hallingbury.

Skipper John Yates elected to field and then watched Potter's first two overs disappear for 21, while taking the wicket of the dangerous Cummings.

McCraith started to put bat to ball effectively and Hallingbury were flying with 66 off the first 11 overs.

McCraith then played on to Mark Pankhurst for 38 and Rae-Long was bowled by Ben Sapsford for 15 as Hallingbury were struggling on 77-3.

Wain took advantage of some leg-side half-volleys from Gant Thompson to get going, but at the other end Michael Strange picked up the wickets of Chambers and Simpson in successive balls.

Sapsford ended the innings by bowling Wain with 22 balls remaining, and ASP were set 188 to win.

Yates and Strange started sedately in the face of some tidy bowling, but got into their stride with shots all round the wicket as they put on 126 for the first wicket before Yates was bowled by McCraith.

Strange upped the tempo and in a second-wicket stand of 37 with Booth ASP wrapped up the win with seven overs to spare.
