Ashwell sailor Ben Saxton picked up gold for Great Britain at the Sailing World Cup in Miami, USA, on Saturday.

Alongside team-mate Nicola Groves, Saxton prevailed in the Nacra 17 category in Biscayne Bay, beating fellow Brits Tom Phipps and Nikki Boniface into second place.

The pair’s win came after a tricky opening few days, but they fought their way through the field to enter the medal race as leaders.

They eventually crossed the line second on the day, behind Brits John Gimson and Anna Burnet, but had done enough to take the top prize.

It was one of six medals achieved by Team GB in Florida, the first World Cup of the Tokyo 2020 cycle.
