A TIMELY 75 from skipper Angus Gent saw Great Chishill dodge back into promotion contention in Senior League III on Saturday as they defeated Burwell seconds by 26 runs.
Chishill were teetering on 76 for 4 when Gent came to the crease, but the captain carefully guided his men to 190 for 8 before he was out just before tea and the home side reached 209 at the close.
Burwell scored consistently in their reply, but the sheer speed of Sam Stoop (3-37) accounted for the top order with Brian Manning (2-17) using his vast experience to ensure that the tail did not wag.
However, Chishill did cause unnecessary alarm by managing to drop six catches before Burwell were dismissed.
