A TWO goal salvo from Charlie Alsop sealed the win for Bassingbourn after another fine team performance.

After a cagy start from both sides the Whites took control of the game and made the breakthrough midway through the half when Andy Jones crossed for Alsop to coolly finish with a left foot strike in the bottom corner.

The goal seemed to give Bassingbourn confidence and for the rest of the half they played some lovely attacking football without adding further goals and went into half time leading 1-0.

Whites maintained their dominance in the second half with Jones, Sutton, Wright, Alsop and Baigent terrorising the Reds defence with some fine passing.

But despite a host of chances they couldn't convert, thanks largely to some fine goalkeeping from the Reds 'keeper.

As the half went on and Whites tired, Shefford started to look for the equalizer and Bassingbourn had to rely on some solid goalkeeping from Charlie Catton and the ever reliable defensive duo of Sam Lay and Alex Collet-Sinfield to keep Reds scoreless.

But in the last minute the nerves were calmed when another Whites attack down the right was met with a cracking shot from Alsop which flew into the roof of the Shefford net to double their lead and make the points safe for Bassingbourn.
