WEAKENED Thriplow need lady luck on their side if they are to challenge St Ives at the top after their title rivals sent them crashing to a 102-run defeat.

Opening bowlers Nigel and Andy Morris were unable to repeat their previous week's heroics as St Ives' stranglehold started from the off.

And after Cook (20) and Greiller (43) mounted an impressive opening stand, the Thriplow bowlers were thankful for Andy and Martin Craze who caught the St Ives batsmen.

Jones and Sriravindrathajah put together another big stand and took the score to 198 before Chris Viner dismissed Sriravindrathajah for 60.

Wickets fell in a final slog, with Ally Cliffe claiming the scalp of Jones for 88, as St Ives posted a daunting 306-7.

Thriplow promoted Andy Morris up the order, but he was bowled in the first over.

And Andy Craze was out for nine shortly afterwards.

However, Paul Staley, supported by Peter Richer, took the attack to St Ives, who had no answer to his blistering assault.

Just as Thriplow raced past the 100-mark, Staley was caught at long on for 64.

Martin Craze and Chris Viner (34) then added a further half- century stand in quick time, with Craze (35) showing his class after a run of bad luck.

Both eventually fell and then Scully was stumped for five, before captain Chris Neild swept his way to 18, with youngsters Tom Staley and Ally Cliffe showing promise.

However, despite a valiant effort Thriplow were all out for 204.
