IT was all Harts this week at Royston Golf Club in the run up to Valentine’s Day, as Stewart and Jim Hart (unrelated members) cleaned up the weekend prizes.

In the Saturday Stableford competition, Ben Bennett triumphed with 40 points, two points ahead of Jim Hart in second place with 38, who was a point ahead of Stewart Hart who finished with 37.

On Sunday, golfers braved the wind, rain and cold to play in the February Sunday Medal.

The winner, on countback, was Stewart Hart with a gross 82, net 71 off his 11 handicap. In second place also with a net 71, but off his seven handicap was Dave Shaw and in third was Glenn Bowles with a net 72.

In yet more atrocious weather, the Senior Section February Stableford competition was played on Wednesday, but the course prevailed with a CSS of 73 and the event declared a non-qualifier for handicap adjustment.

The winner, however, still qualifies to go forward to next year’s Bruce Symes Midweek Championship.

Trevor Percival with 34 points who came first, just ahead of in-form George Hopkins, with 33 points and third place man, Bob Lee with 32 points.

In the Senior Friday League John Fyson mastered the conditions to score 42 points ahead of Trevor Percival, in-form following his Wednesday win, who scored an impressive 40 points.

Mike Harrison took third place with 38 points.

Still in the overall lead is Jim Hopkins with a terrific 223 points from his best six cards, He is followed by Keith Taylor with 219 and Percival with 218.

With seven more games to go the chase is on to hit the magic 240, an average of 40 points a round.
