IT was a successful week for the Brain family, with 11-year-old Alex leading the way, claiming victory in Royston Golf Club's Junior Medal on Saturday.
Alex shot 61 off his 44 handicap, with runner-up James Smith finishing on 72 off his 5 handicap.
The result meant Alex had his handicap reduced by six shots, but still won by nine strokes.
Next time his handicap will be 38, a drop of 12 strokes in five successful days.
Last week the talented youngster also won the club's Junior Stableford with 50 points, ahead of Jordan Hardwige, who finished on 42 points.
Alex's brothers Robert and Jonathan finished third and fourth, with 40 and 39 points respectively.
Elsewhere, the Gentlemens Competition was won by Robert Clark and Adam Woods with 43 points, a win that was helped by five consecutive birdies from the 14th to 18th holes.
They beat Simon Thompson and Barry Buckerfield, who also finished on 43 points.
The Ladies February Stableford was won by Mary Mitchell off her 20 handicap with 30 points, beating 14-handicap Val Squires and 36-handicap Sheila Wood, who finished second and third respectively.
Lauren Hunt won the Ladies Alternate February Stableford with 30 points off her 12 handicap, with Paula Offer finishing second with 27 points.
