DARREN Aldridge's goal was enough to send league leaders Stotfold Youth packing as Buntingford Cougars under-13s held on for a deserved three points.
In an exciting game, both goalkeepers had to make plenty of saves, although it was the Cougars who always looked like taking the win.
Ryan Newey and Will Silverosa both stood out for Buntingford, but it was Darren Aldridge's clever play and confident strike that sealed a vital win.
Richard Jonas continued his impressive goalscoring run with another four goals as Royston Celtic A under-10s hammered eight past a helpless Stevenage Youth A.

Jonas opened the scoring following some intelligent play from Callum Pinner, before grabbing his second with another cool strike. Jonas then completed his hat-trick minutes into the second half, before a Stevenage own goal made it four.
Lorcan George carried on his own impressive scoring run with two more, with Jonas' clean strike making it 7-0. Pinner completed the rout late on with another fine goal, with defenders Jordan Cooney, Robbie Filby and Matthew Foley never giving the Stevenage attack a look in.

Buntingford Cougars under-11s had to settle for a share of the spoils as Bedwell Rangers equalised with the last kick of the game in an entertaining 3-3 draw.
A fine performance saw the Cougars dominate the early play, with Aedan Gaffney causing problems and hitting the Bedwell bar twice.
However, Buntingford were unable to capitalize and against the run of play Bedwell soon went 2-0 up, although George Ganellin's fine strike reduced the arrears just before half time.
After the restart Liam Price slotted home a well-worked Buntingford equaliser, with Calum Brown giving the hosts a deserved lead with a confident strike with just 10 minutes left.
Callum Faik went close and nearly added a fourth, but it was the visitors who made the next breakthrough snatching a late leveller with the last kick.
Despite their battling performance Royston Celtic B under-10s slipped up with Stevenage Youth B running out 4-1 winners.
Royston keeper Robbie Ponting had his work cut out and was forced to make a number of great saves, however the pressure from the visitors eventually took its toll.
Two first-half strikes and a third minutes into the second looked to have all but wrapped up the points, although Jimi Smith did give Royston some hope when he fired home from close range.
But before they could mount a comeback, the visitors broke forward with a clever move resulting in a well-taken fourth.
There were more goals for Hormead Hares Blacks under-nines in a commanding 4-1 win over Broadhall Youth.
Joseph de Souza was also in the goals once more with another two well-taken strikes, with an Owen Hughes effort and a Broadhall own goal adding to his fine work.
There was also a win for Hormead Hares Oranges under-nines, whose battling performance was rewarded by a 2-0 win over Barmond United.
Goals came from player-of-the-match Jake Bradshaw and Cameron Courtman-Stock.
Royston Town Colts under-10s secured another three points with an impressive 5-2 victory against St Neots Town Youth A.
George Bailey and Robbie Norman combined with Justin Leavers to play in Rhys Westbury for Royston's opener, and when his initial strike cannoned off the bar it was Westbury who reacted quickest to head in the rebound.
Westbury then set up Leavers for the second, before the Colts grabbed a third just before half time.
In the second half the visitors hit back with an early strike, before Newman powered home a brilliant free kick to extend Royston's lead. Westbury then notched his second of the match and the Colts' fifth with a calm tap in.
The visitors did reduce the deficit late on when a long ball caused confusion at the back with a St Neots striker taking advantage with a low strike.
Alex Hewer's goal for Buntingford Cougars Whites under-eights was not enough as his side slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Arlesey.
Hewer was on target again as Buntingford Cougars Blues under-eights saw off their Arlesey opponents with a commanding 5-1 win.
Hewer's goal set Cougars on the road before Luke Garrett, Joe Babbage, James Savage, and Matthew Inman added their strikes.
Ashwell A under-nines bounced back from their first defeat of the year last week with a comprehensive 3 -0 victory over Baldock.
The winning margin could have been a lot more as Ashwell dominated throughout but they found the Baldock keeper a worthy opponent with a number of key saves.
However, Zac Conley managed to put two past him, including one brilliant long range strike, with Thomas West adding a third.
Ashwell B under-nines saw off their Baldock opponents with a commanding 6-0 win, with double strikes from Steven Day, Ben Oyston, and debutant Connor Georgia.
Alex Underwood netted a well-taken hat-trick to help Hormead Hares under-11s to a 5-3 victory over a spirited Letchworth GCE Reds.
The Hares went 3-0 up, with Rhodri Hughes opening the scoring and then adding a second.
Underwood swept home a third with a confident strike, with Letchworth reducing the arrears minutes into the second half.
The visitors then hit Hormead with two more to pull the game back to 3-3 with just 10 minutes of play left on the clock. And with player-of-the-match Jack Taney preventing a Letchworth winner, at the other end Underwood kept his cool and slotted home a well-worked fourth, before completing his hat-trick with another brilliant finish to seal a deserved three points.
Buntingford Cougars Blues under-nines lost out to Bedwell Rangers, slipping to a 3-0 defeat despite having most of the possession.
Cougars created plenty of chances with Connor Poulton unlucky to see his powerful header hit the post, with Jack McMeechan also unfortunate to have three strikes well saved by the Bedwell keeper.
Buntingford Cougars Whites under-nines came from behind with Olly Pallett and player-of-the-match Dane Hyland among the goals in spirited 5-4 win against Bedwell Rangers.
Johno Jane claimed a hat-trick as Royston Town Colts B under-10s played out an entertaining second half in their 3-3 draw with St Neots Town Youth B.
After a goalless first half it was St Neots who opened the scoring with two early second half strikes, before Kane pulled one back for Royston following a well-worked move from midfield.
Danny Mynott and Jordan Howe then combined to free Kane for his second and Royston's equaliser with another confident piece of skill.
However, St Neots were back in front moments later when their striker added their own well-taken goal.
Luckily for Royston, Thomas McGee was on hand, and after an impressive game it was his corner that found Kane unmarked in the box, with the striker turning the ball home for a late leveller.
