A BUSY period at Royston Golf Club saw six competitions played within five days.

The action started with the Midweek Golfers' Medal which was won by Doug Moule net 70 (gross 83 - 13 handicap), with Jim Hopkins net 71 (gross 82 - 11 handicap) and Peter Mitchell net 72 (gross 83 - 11 handicap) in second and third places respectively.

The Mens' Thursday Medal was won by Peter Dean, whose impressive net 65 (gross 76 - 11 handicap) gave him a comfortable five-shot margin over runner-up Stuart Phillips' net 70 (gross 68 + 2 handicap).

Results from the Mens' Saturday Medal emphasised just how difficult it is to win with a +2 handicap when Stuart Phillips shot his second gross 68 (net 70) within a 48 hour period, yet secured only third place, behind winner Oli Bance net 69 (gross 72 - 3 handicap) and runner-up Terry Bridgeman net 69 (gross 97 - 28 handicap).

Top honours in the Junior Medal went to James Smith net 73 (gross 78 - 5 handicap) with Tom Porter net 75 (gross 91 - 16 handicap) in second spot.

The Mens' Centenary Trophy Final was closely contested, with only two shots separating the top three players.

In the end, victory went to Ian Coath net 69 (gross 77 - 8 handicap), with Darren Dawson net 70 (gross 75 - 5 handicap) and Geoff Truran net 71 (gross 85 - 14 handicap) narrowly missing out.

Sunday morning's Singles Stableford competition was won by Bob Turner 39 points (12 handicap) with Stuart Phillips 38 points (+2 handicap) in second place.

In Tina Collins' Ladies Captain's Day event, Silver Division was won by Sarah Green 36 points (15 handicap) with Jennie McGuigan 33 points (3 handicap) and Mary Mitchell 30 points (20 handicap) second and third.

Ladies Bronze Division (1) was won by Paula Offer on 38 points with Claire Beaumont's 32 points coming out on top in the Ladies Bronze Division (2).
