Dave Evans this week retired as treasurer of Royston Swimming Club, after paying the bills for 15 years. The 68-year-old, from Royston, has been keeping the club afloat since the early 1990s - but has never learned to swim. "I first got involved in the club in the mid-70s when my daughter Helen joined," said Dave. "But I can't swim. It's never been a problem. No-one's ever pushed me in. "I've enjoyed it enormously and it's great to see how many children there are at the club doing so well." Swimmers said thank you and goodbye to Dave prior to a training session and the club's newest members Hayden Erasmus, 10, and his sisters, Emma, 12, and Claire, eight, presented him with a commemorative tankard.
