FORMER Royston Town skipper Jim Hollingsworth directed a parting blast at the Crows following his decision to join Histon. Hollingsworth quit Garden Walk 24 hours before their 8-0 loss at Aylesbury Vale last week - and blamed the club's lack of drive. He said: "It was my choice to leave and I'm pleased to have joined a club which has ambition. "I felt it had got to a stage at Royston where certain people at the club were just happy at Royston being a Spartan South Midlands League team. "There's no ambition or aim to go any higher. I have played for Royston for a few seasons now and every season it was promised that things were going to change. "We've been told we'd have somewhere to train, we would have warm-up tops, transport to away games . . . the list goes on. "So I was very happy to sign for Histon, but sad in the same sense that I know Royston will always be the same until some people leave the club." Hollingsworth, whose time at the Crows was plagued by a series of red cards, has yet to break into Histon's first team. But the Cambridge club's reserve side play in the Ridgeons League Premier Division, so he is still playing the same standard of football. Hollingsworth, pictured, who had a brief spell with Ware, did, however, praise some of the people involved with running the Garden Walk club. "I will miss the support I got from what I call Royston Town old boys, the likes of Tony Moulding, Charlie Pinner and Ronnie King. "Without the likes of Trev Burrows, Dave Anderson and Terry McKinall the football club would be even worse." Royston Town chose not to comment on Hollingsworth's claims. - The Crows host Harpenden Town on Saturday, and travel to Broxbourne on Tuesday.
