Glorious sunshine graced Royston Rockets BMX Club as they held round three of the Summer Series.

A total of 270 riders headed to the Burns Road track with 41 from the home-town club wanting to shine on their own track.

And they did jut that with spots on the top of the podium going to Bruce Anthony (open 13) and Zac Childs (open 14), gaining first places in all their races.

Jack Hudson (cruiser 17-29), Emma Deane (female 9-10) and Elizabeth Bown (female 17+) all hit the top spot too, as did Annalise Cadman-Carpenter who came first in the female cruiser 13-16 group and sixth in the open 15.

Second places went to Cara Rushforth (female cruiser 30+), Kai Upton (male 9) and Hayden Stone (open 16).

Bronze medals were won by Braden Duffy (open 13), Paul Hanks (cruiser 45+) and Harriet Alexander (female 17+).

A spokeswoman said: "The day ran fantastically smoothly with the help of many volunteers, and has been great practice for hosting the East Anglia Championships on September 15.

"With maximum effort shown, 28 Rockets made it into the top eight in their category which is a great achievement.

"Our riders are heading to Ipswich next for round four at the end of the month."

Think BMX racing might be your kind of sport? The club hold regular induction, coaching and practice sessions for riders from the age of five up.
