A young touch rugby player from Royston has helped England to an international title.

The Atlantic Youth Touch Cup was held in Nottingham and saw England take the victory in the boys' U18 category.

Ethan McGillvray was part of that team. He had originally been selected for the England high performance training squad two years ago but didn't get selected for the final team.

However, he knuckled down, trained harder and developed yet more skills to earn his spot in the U18 squad at the age of 16.

A 16-1 victory over South Africa in an exhibition game set the tone and victories over Wales and Ireland led them to the top of the pile.

He had started his career with the Therfield Heath-based club and now plays for Cambridge.

Royston touch rugby train from 7.30pm prompt on a Wednesday evening, players need to be ready for 7.15pm.

The sessions are open to anyone aged 14 and over and are totally mixed sessions, from gender and age through to experience and ability.
