A cold and frosty morning it may have been but the action on the track was hot as Royston Rockets hosted round four of the BMX Racing Eastern Regional Winter Series.

The conditions were in complete contrast to the last time the club were the hosts for the event, that one in the summer boasting temperatures above 30 degrees.

The ice made life difficult but thanks to the club's army of volunteers, the event went ahead with their next job after making the track safe being to provide hot food and drinks to keep everyone warm.

On the course, more than 100 committed riders from across the region battled it out with 26 from the home club.

And almost all of them made it into A finals with eight getting onto the final podium.

Olly Dwyer took a clean sweep of wins in the 17+ Cruiser and Zac Childs followed his lead in the Male 12 group.

Ben Millington, riding up an age group in the Male 13, finished first as did Dominic Hines in the Male 15, dressed as one of Santa's elves.

Christina Boukouvalas-Loubiere (female 11-12), Annalise Cadman-Carpenter (male 14) and Freddie Cadman-Carpenter(male 17-29) all finished second while Deacon Childs was third in the Male 10 category ahead of Liam Wade in fourth.
