Melbourn make it a Gray day for Sawston

IT was a Gray day for Sawston as Mick Walker's men made it two out of two on a sunny afternoon.

Melbourn looked comfortable from the kick-off and soon brothers Andrew and Jason Gray were dictating the tempo in midfield.

Melbourn's passing was too much for Sawston to handle and midway through the first half a fine move involving Andrew Morris and Carl Chadwick led to Michael Wagstaff finding himself clean through and his clinical finish gave Melbourn a deserved lead.

Sawston's struggled with the movement of Chadwick and strike partner Ben Wright and 15 minutes later conceded another with Wright finishing off an Andrew Gray move.

Melbourn had the ball in the net again just before half-time but the referee decided that Morris had strayed into an offside position, but they nevertheless increased their lead 10 minutes after the break when Andrew Gray curled a high free-kick into the goal after a foul on Wagstaff.

Melbourn then took the eye of the game for a while and allowed Sawston to get competitive and this resulted in goal midway through the second half.

It was to only be a consolation, however, as Melbourn then picked the pace of the game up again with five minutes to go when Jason Gray curled a free kick into the top left hand corner of the goal off the bar to arguably out do his brothers earlier effort.
