Greneway round-up

GRENEWAY’S Ben Seabrook was part of the successful Cambridge CB under-11 team who beat Suffolk by eight wickets recently.

He helped to restrict the visitors to 153-9 and took a wicket finishing with figures of 7–1–29–1.

Chasing a total of 154 to win from their allotted 40 overs, Ben hit a superb unbeaten 71 from only 55 balls, with 12 fours and a huge six along the way. His efforts were part of a match-winning unbeaten 126 run partnership with Sam Charlton.

Greneway assistant head teacher said: “It was an outstanding batting performance and a score to treasure for Ben who is developing into a very effective all-rounder.”

Meanwhile, Greneway’s powerful Year Seven and Eight athletes opened their accounts in their respective North Herts Schools’ Leagues with some excellent individual and team performances.

The pick of the night was a new Year 7 Boys 200m record for Justin Leavers which had stood sine 1994.

Many athletes established new and improved PBs and some moved onto the Schools’ ‘All-Time List’.

The Year Sevens were participating in their first competitive experience of the season, and many for the first time at an athletics stadium, ensuring a very successful evening.

The Year Seven team achieved an impressive 13 firsts and the Year Eights an even better 15. A great start which will need to be built upon in the next North Herts Schools’ League on May 26.
