In an evenly contested first half both sides had chances but the deadlock was broken five minutes before half time when Jono Roope opened the scoring for Bassingbourn. However, almost straight from the re-start Broadwater were unlucky not to level when a shot came back off the post.
With the second half following much the same pattern as the first, Roope had a glorious chance to double the lead but his penalty was well saved by the ‘keeper 10 minutes from time it mattered little as the match ended 1-0 to Bassingbourn.
