Royston Town U16s 9 Bishop’s Stortford Athletic 1
AFTER a two-week lay-off due to the bad weather the U16s returned to action on Sunday with an impressive win against Bishop’s Stortford.
The home side dominated large spells of the first half and a fine hat-trick from Jacob Leighton and a brace from Matt Brennan gave the young Crows a 5-0 half-time lead.
To their credit, Stortford gave a better second half performance and the game was far more open and evenly balanced.
The visitors reduced the arrears early on and also hit the crossbar but Royston again began to dominate and create further openings.
Owen Bentley hit the crossbar from a header and Brennan had a headed goal disallowed but fine finishes from Bentley (2), Jordan Hall and Jake Booth gave the team a fine victory
