GRENEWAY’S Year 7 basketball team got their North Herts Schools’ U12s league underway this week with a 79-41 win against Marriotts School.
The first quarter was a tight affair with both teams showing quality on offence. When the hosts passed they looked particulalry impressive and edged the period 18-10.
The second quarter followed a similar pattern as Greneway tried to create space and scoring opportunities against a big and strong Marriotts team. At the interval Greneway were in control.
The third period was the closest of the match, 18-18, with Marriotts making excellent use of their key asset. In response, Greneway continued to score on the drive and moved the ball as a team well at times.
The final period saw three Marriotts players fouled out and Greneway’s superior skills and fitness dominate this crucial phase of the match 27-2.
The final buzzer was greeted with satisfaction by the hosts as they had started their league campaign with a very positive outcome.
