STEEPLE Morden FC suffered play-off heartache on Saturday, losing a closely fought match against Wisbech St Mary Reserves.
The defeat meant the club just missed out on being promoted to the BIS League Division Three.
Their impressive season was capped off by the play-off final in which they narrowly lost, after creating a number of half-chances that could not be turned into goals.
Steeple Morden will be looking to go one better next season and grab an automatic place without the lottery of the play-offs.
