Royston Colts U-10 A 1 Pin Green Juniors A 1 COLTS' hopes of their first win for several weeks were dashed when Juniors equalised with the last kick of the game. The visitors started strongly keeping home keeper Will Hart busy with a succession of on-target shots, but strong midfield performances from Harry Townsend and Callum Turner saw the balance of chances restored. Up front Colts were also playing with improved confidence and when Thomas Robson drew the visitors defence Chris Francombe spotted the gap and finished with a fine strike. In a thrilling second half there was a steady supply of good chances at both ends, but both keepers distinguished themselves with a series of excellent saves. With less than a minute to go, Juniors caught out the home defence and found enough space for a clear strike, which was buried with a searing strike to make it 1-1 just as the full-time whistle blew. Royston Colts U-10 B 1 Pin Green Juniors B 5 IT looked like being a tough day for the Colts when the Juniors scored within the first 30 seconds. Colts quickly regrouped, Max Cooper and Jack Burgess in particular offering some good resistance, but the well-organised visiting side were too strong and by half-time had managed to put away three more excellent goals. After the break Colts played with much more coherence, and despite conceding another goal early in the second half, they replied with one of their own when Cooper played Will Hart into a good position from where he unleashed a fine shot. Letchworth Reds U-8 A 0 Royston Colts A 5 THIS was a bitterly cold morning but Colts started much the stronger. Justin Leavers once again controlled the game and has proved why Watford have signed him for next season. Colts will miss him but the opposition teams will be glad to see the back of him. Leavers took a shot and Rhys Westbury turned it in before Bradley Calvert then won the ball, and played it to Leavers who slotted it home. After the break Leavers picked the ball up and beat several players before scoring his second. Leavers then took a goal kick and found Westbury, who took it to the box and was pulled down, but coolly slottied home the penalty. Leavers wrapped up the scoring in the dying seconds when he volleyed into the top corner. Letchworth Reds U-8 B 1 Royston Colts B 1 THIS was a much more even match. Great defending from Callum Waring and Conner Eustace kept it to goalless at half time. Early in the second half Letchworth took the lead. But a nasty knock to Eustace saw Leavers come on, and he made the difference, scoring the equaliser to give Royston a share of the spoils.
