ROYSTON continued their recent run of good form when with virtually the last kick of the game they scored a dramatic equaliser to take a point at Woodbridge.

It was a well deserved point not least because the visitors started the game with four first choice players unavailable including keeper Amy Walker.

Playing in monsoon like conditions the game got off to a relatively even start with both sides trying to play passing football in spite of the conditions.

But it was Woodbridge who broke the deadlock on 10 minutes when Royston's defence lost concentration and allowed their striker to score from a tight angle.

Undeterred the visitors kept pushing forward and a great pass from Jodie Scott left Ruth Jordan with what seemed like the easiest of chances but unfortunately she missed the target.

The breakthrough came when Town's stand-in keeper Claire Draper launched the ball beyond Woodbridge's back four and Emma Chaffey seized the opportunity by hooking the ball into the corner of the net.

After the break Royston found themselves pinned into their own half and it took some excellent defending by Leanne Buchannan and Gemma Barlow to keep Royston in the game.

On 75 minutes, Chaffey was adjudged to have brought down her opponent in the box although at the time there appeared to be little or no contact.

However, justice was done when Draper made a great save with her feet from the resulting spot kick.

The final 10 minutes provided a series of dramatic incidents Woodbridge thought they had taken the lead on 81 minutes but after consultation with his assistant, the referee disallowed the goal.

With just two minutes left the home side did score what looked like the winner.

However, Royston hit back in the final minutes of added time when the most influential player on the pitch, Jodie Scott, put Chaffey in to slot home the equaliser.

Town's manager Kevin Foulger said after the game: "This was a tremendous team performance - they never gave up and thoroughly deserved the draw.
