Baldock bowler Heather Stapleford and her team-mate Nicola Coombe won the Under 26 International Pairs title at Bournville Bowls Club, Birmingham, on Sunday afternoon.
The two wood pairs match is played in two sets of nine ends and a deciding third set of three ends.
The Hertfordshire girls won the two sets that took them to the final against an Ireland pair who had beaten Scotland in the other semi-final.
This very exciting game gave Ireland the first set, but Stapleford and Coombe came back to win the second set.
In the deciding set, the score was one end each and with her final bowl and Ireland holding shot, Stapleford took out the Ireland shot bowl leaving two shots to England which decided the match.
The pair have been playing for Hertfordshire at both under-26 and under-32 level, although this is the last year at Stapleford can compete at the younger age group.
