BUDDING athletes at Freman College jumped on bicycles, dived in the pool and sprinted around the playing fields in the school's first triathlon.
More than 100 Year 9 students took part, and in teams of three swam 200m in the Ward Freman pool, and cycled 2.5km and ran 1km around the school's playing fields.
Head of PE Andy Wilson said: "We wanted to do something a bit different, and everyone involved had a good time. It's quite a challenging event so that's why they were split into teams and I think we will definitely be doing it again.
"It was great fun and the atmosphere around the school was fantastic. I think it's important that the students do a variety of sports and a triathlon is a perfect example.
