BUNTINGFORD'S Sunday team beat Myddleton by 22 runs.

Batting first, Buntingford reached 26, before Phil Church was cleaned bowled for seven.

Scott Nash then joined opener Martin Coote and together they took the score to 81, before Coote was dismissed for a fine 51.

Nash, following his 119 from the previous week, continued in the same vein, finding the boundary with ease.

He made 93 not out, with 13 fours and one six, and with Clive Glasscock chipping in with 22, Buntingford scored 190-6.

In reply, Myddleton, began well and reached 54 before they lost their first wicket.

With the score on 66-2 and with Patel batting well, the game looked evenly poised. However, when Patel (43) fell to a brilliant diving catch by Stuart Lawrence the game swung in Buntingford's favour.

Although Brown (22) and Nuj (37) kept the innings going, Myddleton were eventually all out for 168 with 11 balls remaining.

AFTER a tight finish Buntingford lost to relegation threatened Farnham at Norfolk Road on Saturday.

Batting first, Buntingford yet again failed to set up a good run total, and after an opening partnership of 26 between Steve Paola (10) and Mahe Chowdhury (11), the hosts' wickets began to tumble.

However, a partnership of 70 between Richard Pearce (47) and Scott Nash (45), enabled Buntingford to post a total of 154-9.

Farnham's reply began well, with a first wicket partnership of 55 between M Wilton (45) and C Wilton (22).

Chowdhury (3-30) and Barry Walker (2-33), got Buntingford back in the game and reduced Farnham to 115-5 with the help of two terrific catches from Dan Duff and Chris Chambers.

Paola replaced Chowdhury and bowled a terrific spell of his own - clean bowling four batsman.

This brought the last Farnham batsman to the crease with one run required from the last nine balls. Unfortunately for Buntingford, Farnham's Griggs clipped a leg side ball to the boundary, winning the game with six balls to spare.

- TRAVELLING to Thorley on Saturday, Buntingford seconds came away with an easy win that continued their unbeaten run.

Batting first, opening pair Steve Baker (35) and John Clements (47) put on 99 before Baker was dismissed.

Clements then went with the score on 113, but man-of-the-match Neale Dookheran (64) and Kev Poulton (56) shared a valuable partnership of 123.

At the end of their 45 overs, Buntingford had amassed a challenging 261-5.

In reply, Thorley struggled agains tight bowling, with White (1), Baker (2), Clements (2), Chambers (2), and Glasscock (1) sharing the wickets, and were all out for 131.

n NAVEED Ahmad turned match winner with a six-wicket haul that inspired Royston seconds to their first win since 2005.

In a hugely impressive performance that saw off Wilbrahams seconds in the CCA Junior League Division 3 South, Royston will be hoping this showing is a sign of things to come.

Acting captain Mick Miller elected to put Wilbrahams in to bat, and Royston were quickly on top, with Naveed Ahmad, Mark Harper, and Toby Flynn working their way through their opponents order, with Wilbrahams all out for 142.

Fifteen-year-old Harper, on his second team debut, capped a remarkable week, taking 2-30.

Harper made his first team bow last week, taking three wickets in Royton's Keatley Cup semi-final win over Aspenden Standon & Puckeridge.

Flynn, 13, also impressed and weighed in with two wickets.

Ahmad then bagged 6-35. He had been threatening this kind of performance since he joined the club at the start of the season, and his pace and accuracy was too much for shell-shocked Wilbrahams.

Royston's reply with the bat was just as impressive, with Miller (51) and another debutant, Andrew Sladen (35) putting on 77 for the first wicket.

However, it was that man Ahmad (30 not out) who closed proceedings, taking his side to victory by six wickets with eight overs to spare.

- Reed U-15s, picked up a good win against Abington.

Openers Garrott (59) and Kitscha (20) were ably supported by Ward (27), as Reed posted 160 from their 20 overs.

Only one Abington player made double figures, as accurate bowling from Tidey (3-10) and West (3-7) secured a comfortable 125 run win.

Reed under-13s have made a late championship charge in the Cambs Premier Division with back-to-back victories against challengers Sawston and Hardwick & Shepreth.

Against Sawston, Reed recovered from a precarious 18-2 to record 112-6 off their 20 overs.

Opener William Heslam, aided by Shaun Tidey (14) and later Bowman and Kirby, guided them to 112 with 59 not out.

In reply Sawston were restricted by some good all round bowling and fielding, and despite Matthews scoring 67 not out, Reed restricted themto 108-5 from their 20 overs.

Reed then went on to beat Hardwick & Shepreth the following night - completing a double.

Batting first Reed totalled 137-3, thanks to contributions from William Heslam (33), Oliver Benham (47), and Shaun Tidey (35 not out).

In reply Hardwick struggled to 103-6 with Harradine (34) and Wells (29) top scoring.

Benham took 1-7 and Heslam 2 -20 as Reed won by 34 runs.
