ASPENDEN Standon & Puckeridge cruised past opponents Potter Street and moved up to second in the table.

Fielding first, Aspenden had Potter Street struggling, with Matthijs Van Collenburg picking up two wickets, both caught at slip by Michael Strange.

Ben Sapsford also picked up a couple of wickets, and helped see off Ali who was brilliantly caught one-handed in the slips by Strange.

Potter Street skipper Rose was undone by a slower leg break from Bart Jan Van Collenburg.

Lusty hitting from Wahid and some intelligent batting from Lenihan took them to 129 all out.

In reply, Strange and Mathieu Booth batted steadily against some good bowling, before Booth was bowled for nine.

Simon Groom proceeded to score all his runs through the slip cordon as he and Strange pushed the score up to 92-1, before he was dismissed.

James Williams was caught at slip off the bowling of Bastola, and when Matthijs Van Collenburg was bowled for a duck, Aspenden were in trouble at 93-4.

John Yates and Strange saw their team through with a patient partnership that led to Strange dispatching Rose for the winning boundary.

- AN excellent bowling performance by the Morris brothers coupled with a good knock from Godric Smith enabled Thriplow to keep the pressure on their promotion rivals.

March seconds batted first, but lived to regret it with Nigel and Andy Morris running riot.

The first four wickets fell to Andy, courtesy of some sharp catches by Chris Neild, Dickon Turner, and two by keeper Paul Staley.

While Andy (10.4-5-18-5) returned late on to capture his final wicket, his brother Nigel's spell of 12-4-26-0 was also admirable and March were all out for 138 in the last over.

The March attack proved a tough challenge, with West being bowled for 26.

Staley Jr then joined Smith, with their partnership taking Thriplow to 86.

Then Viner and Ayre promisied some fireworks, but both failed to ignite.

However, Smith had built up an excellent 49 and just when it looked like he would see Thriplow to victory with 20 runs needed he was out lbw.

Andy Craze hit a sumptuous cover drive for four, but was then caught behind, and Thriplow looked in real danger.

Neild (5) and Andy Morris played out four maidens. The score crept up but with just six needed Neild was bowled.

Turner was then dropped twice before Andy Morris hit the winning runs.

The win keeps Thriplow in third place in the Senior Division 1.
