BUNTINGFORD Town under-18s completed a memorable week with a cup and league double in the space of just 24 hours.

Town claimed the second of the Royston Crow League Cup Finals on Tuesday night, with talented striker Ricky Young netting two goals in extra time.

They saw off their Crow League rivals in an impressive manner, dominating the game from start to finish.

However, Town struggled to convert chances into goals, with Young, Ricky Goddard, Josh Bronti, and James Selby all going close in normal time.

Then Young turned in a match-winning extra-time performance, with his skill and pace too much for the tired legs of Bishop's Stortford, slotting home in a confident one-on-one, before lashing in a second late on.

On Monday night, Buntingford were also crowned the Ridgeons Midweek League West Division winners, with Young the talk of the action once more, following another double strike.

Buntingford Town under-18 manager, Paul Attfield said: "Winning a league and cup in the same week is absolutely brilliant. The final itself was quite difficult for the boys because they had played the night before, but they responded really well.

"They dominated throughout, and Ricky took his goals very well. It was a deserved win, and they still have plenty more to play for!"

On Monday Town will host Harwich and Parkeston, winners of the Ridgeons Midweek League South Division, 3pm at Garden Walk in the league championship semi-final.

The under-16, under-15 and under-14 Crow League finals take place on Sunday at 10.30am at Garden Walk.

New Hall Rangers and Stotfold Juniors will meet in the under-16 final, with Stevenage Town Youth facing BSCFC in the under-15 final. Biggleswade United and Knebworth Youth will battle it out for the under-14 trophy.
