FOXTON coach Matt Gray praised his side on their impressive start to life in the Cambs Premier League Division Two.

Following last season's promotion, Foxton have continued to turn heads with six wins and two draws, and Khalsa Sports were the latest victims, as Gray's men won by 107 runs.

Gray said: "It was another good performance and we're certainly in a run of go

"We strengthened over the winter and those players have come in and done very well.

"We've now got a very strong batting line up."

And it was new boy Max Bowen (41) who got Foxton on the way to another challenging total.

Fellow opener Patrick Joseph chipped in with 25, before Lawrence Farnum (12) and Antonnel Atwell (28) took the score on further.

Khalsa's Raaju Sharma offered an imposing threat as he took five Foxton wickets, including clean bowling Bowen, Atwell and Ian Cambridge.

Sid Sabey also impressed with the bat as his 37 not out took Foxton beyond the 200-mark, with Paul Dean (17) and Sam Sabey (22) playing their part.

After their allotted 48 overs Foxton finished on 203 for 7.

Khalsa's reply started slowly, with Andrew Cambridge catching both Tahseen Ahmed (4) and Waqas Shazad (4).

Paul Dean also added the catch of Shazad Amir (21) off Andrew Gray, and then caught dangerman Raaju Sharma (35) following Atwell's delivery.

Atwell also dismissed Kaman Humayun (0), with Andrew Gray bowling Gurpal Singh, trapping Mohammed Tayab lbw, and having Mannirvair Singh and Jaspal Singh caught by Ian Cambridge and Sid Sabey respectively.

As a result Khalsa were all out for 99.

Gray said: "I was particularly impressed with Max Bowen's contribution. He opened up well and went on to hit a decent 40.

"Captain Sid Sabey also did well and when we were at 125 for 5, he got us out of trouble with a well-taken 37.

"As a result we're still on top, and the win has now given us a 25 point lead. When we moved up into this division, we didn't know what to expect but we're doing very well. It's been a great start and hopefully we can maintain our momentum."

On Saturday Foxton travel to ninth place Weston Colville.

Gray said: "We haven't played them for a few years, but they always pose a threat.

"They have two or three players that are very capable, batsmen that could really take the game away from us given the chance.

"They're what I call a sleeping giant, who could mount a serious challenge.

"I just hope they don't awake on Saturday!
