IT is not often I feel drawn to writing to The Crow, but I have just returned from watching a performance of Les Miserables by the students of The Meridian School, Royston.
It was to put it simply a joy to behold, and equal to any performance of this musical, which I have been privileged to see in the great metropolis.
The sheer talent of those taking part, including the orchestra, was unquestionable and to our untrained ear and eye seemed faultless.
I write to thank all those taking part, including the obviously hard-working and dedicated staff behind the scenes.
We left the venue uplifted in heart and spirit.
Well done to them all.
THE school edition of Les Miserables at The Meridian School, Royston, was for me and many others a masterly production, well deserving of the standing ovation it received at the Saturday matinee performance.
The programme designed by The Meridian School media studies department set a high standard, which the cast, orchestra and all those involved can be justly proud.
IN these troubled times when we hear so much from the media about the youth of today and their anti-social activities, it was so refreshing to witness what we can only describe as a spectacular display of enthusiasm, dedication and sheer commitment by the students of The Meridian School, Royston.
I refer, of course, to the brilliant school production of Les Miserables which I have seen twice on the London stage, but this outshone it for me.
The cast, orchestra, lighting and staging directors and everyone involved had obviously spent months in preparation, mostly in their spare time, I imagine.
I can only say that we should be so proud of our local youth who, under the headship of Dr Mike Firth and his excellent team, produced a most wonderful, professional performance, the standing ovation for which, justifiably, went on for some time.

I JUST had to write to congratulate the staff and students of The Meridian School, Royston, on their awesome performances of Les Miserables.
It was a privilege to witness such a wonderful show. Even if you're not a fan, you couldn't fail to appreciate the energy and dedication of everyone involved.
It was a fantastic experience and probably the best production The Meridian School has ever staged. Very well done to everyone involved.

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone at The Meridian School, Royston on the wonderful production of Les Miserables, performed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of last week.
Young people often get a bad press, but these young people had put in an outstanding amount of effort to stage this show, and should be extremely proud of themselves.
It was a truly stunning performance.
