# Noticed a familiar face. I went down to speak to him and asked where I had seen him before. He was Gunner West, of Arsley, who had been a sergeant in the A Battery of the old Herts Brigade.

The next day I was to take my gun down to the Divisional Ammunition Column at Milly. Gunners and officers were to use the gun for instruction.

# Moved back to Gouches. During the day I passed the time with walks. Many an hour I sat with a book by the stove and in the evening took trips to Doullens to the cinema.
