COMMUTERS are being warned that trains travelling through Crow Country will be leaving early this winter due to leaves on the line.

Train operator First Capital Connect (FCC) has announced that an amended timetable will be in operation from Monday, October 8, until Friday, December 7, with trains leaving three minutes early.

It will affect services stopping at stations including Royston, Melbourn, and Ashwell and Morden before 8.30am in the morning.

A spokesman for FCC said that leaf build-up on the tracks makes the rails slippery, reducing the rate at which trains can speed up and slow down.

He said: “Extending morning journey times by a few minutes will allow us to deliver a more consistent service through the autumn.”

Full details of the changes can be found on the FCC website, www.firstcapitalconnect.co.uk

Meanwhile, all railway stations in Crow country have achieved Secure Station Status, an award which recognises efforts made to integrate security features to help deter crime and anti-social behaviour. FCC has worked closely with police to bring all its stations up to scratch.
