THE rain came just at the wrong time for thousands of people gathered on the Heath on Monday for the last and main event for Royston's Jubilee celebrations.

Soon after 4pm, with fewer than half the attractions seen, events had to be abandoned as the black clouds, which had been threatening for most of the day, finally burst and the heath became deserted.
