I WAS delighted to read your article on the wind farm proposed for Highfields Farm at Litlington (The Crow, April 10).

Hurrah for common sense.

Your photo showing how the wind farm might look shows just what a terrible impact the wind turbines would have on the picturesque A505 and Royston to King's Cross railway line, ruining the view for the eco-golfer-aesthetes that frequent the manicured lawns of Therfield Heath (are putting greens a protected habitat?). Not to mention the noise.

What will we do when we can no longer hear the traffic, trains, and low flying passenger jets that are such an important feature of the Royston noise-scape because of those pesky turbines?

Need I go into the disastrous consequences for biodiversity of losing three Olympic swimming pool-sized bits of sterile arable monoculture farmland?

Thank God they've stood up to protect the splendid vista from Therfield Heath of Johnson-Matthey, Tesco and, oh yes, the pet crematorium.

What planet are these councillors on? Has anyone told them about climate change?
